Meet Marlen Rivera
In the 'People of Stahl' series, we talk to colleagues from around the world about what they do, what makes them tick, and what our purpose – Touching lives, for a better world – means to them. Here, we sit down with Marlen Rivera, who works in our Human Resources function in Mexico. Marlen likes to help everyone in Stahl's global family feel at home.
How long have you been with Stahl? What first attracted you to the company?
I have been with Stahl for two and a half years now. I was particularly attracted by how international the company is, with offices and production sites in all corners of the globe. It was clear that Stahl’s products were making a great impact on its customers, and this is exactly the kind of environment in which I wanted to work and grow.
What is your role? Can you share an interesting fact about the work you do?
I'm an Assistant in Human Resources. For me, the most interesting and rewarding aspect of my job is helping new joiners feel at home. I guide them through the induction process and ensure they have all the resources at hand to quickly adapt to their role.
What is your favourite thing about working at Stahl? What are the biggest challenges?
I love that Stahl’s people are so diverse! But that also presents a challenge to ensure that everyone is equally integrated and united towards our purpose. I have noticed that people from different generations have different needs and opinions, and so it is always tricky to strike a balance.
How does your work support Stahl’s purpose: Touching lives, for a better world?
For me, touching lives is about creating a healthy work environment where our people feel included and look forward to working at Stahl every day. My work provides people with the support they need, both in terms of professional growth and personal needs, and helps them feel part of a community. I am also quite active in organising volunteering opportunities for our colleagues, which is another way I’m helping create a better world.
If you were CEO of Stahl for the day, what would you do?
I would organise a town hall to discuss our strategic direction and progress on KPIs. Everyone would be able to ask questions and voice their suggestions. This would be a great way of tapping into the pulse of the organisation and gaining actionable insights on how we can progress together.
How do you spend your free time outside of work?
I like to play sports. My son is training in football, so we sometimes play together. And at the weekend I can be found at the local museum, stadium or cinema!
Thanks for sharing your story, Marlen! We are proud of our people who make a difference every day and strive for excellence together. Stay tuned for more 'People of Stahl' features!
